Is it a correct use of "contrasting" in my sentence? I mean it's different from other pictures.

"The new picture/painting is contrasting."
 
As an adjective, "contrasting" is normally attributive.
 
What is it contrasted with?
 
No.

The words match and contrast are similar in how they are used. Something can't match by itself. It has to match something. Similarly, something can't contrast by itself. It has to contrast with something.
