What is the difference in meaning between that consisted of and consisting of in the following sentences?

1- I picked a book consisting of 50 pages.

2- I picked a book that consisted of 50 pages.

No difference.

There is no difference but neither is something a native speaker is likely to say. You're more likely to hear:

- I picked a fifty-page book.
- I picked a book that's fifty pages long.
- I picked a book with fifty pages.

In addition, I prefer "chose" to "picked" there but the latter isn't wrong.
