Which verbs can I use here?

Humans are a species that lives on the rocky planet Earth. They worship a star they call the Sun, which they ................ once a year.

circuit
circumambulate
encircle
round
circumnavigate

You can start by removing the words that aren't verbs. The one about walking is somewhat improbable when applied to a planet.

You've omitted the likeliest choice. What does a celestial object do when it follows an elliptical course around a much larger one? That's the verb I'd use.

Perhaps the OP is stymied because he or she is looking for a single word. We would use the phrase revolve around. I don't think we have a single word that expresses this idea perfectly.

I'm thinking of a single word which is commonly used to describe a planet traveling around a star. I think it fits perfectly.

Okay, orbit. Better late than never :-D
