Am I right both sentences are correct and usable?

Andy’s car has the same colour as Laura’s car.

Andy’s car is the same colour as Laura’s car.
 
You'd need a very special reason to use has. If you don't have one, it's wrong.

Use is.
 
You could say that Andy has a car the same colour as Laura's.
 
[STRIKE]Am I right[/STRIKE] Are both sentences [STRIKE]are[/STRIKE] correct and usable?
Note this better and more grammatical way to ask your question.
