Title : Cancelling an appointment

Question: I'm afraid I have a problem you need to resolve. You just arrived at the swimming pool, but it won't open until next weekend. Call your friend to explain the situation, and then offer two or three alternatives about this matter.

Answer:
Hey, Junho.
I‘m sorry I have bad news for you.
The swimming pool is closed now.
It’s closed until this weekend because it's under construction.
I have thought about three alternatives to this matter.
One is to go to another pool. It takes about half an hour to get there.
The second one to delay our appointment to next week, when the construction is over.
The third one is that we just have a drink together instead of swimming.
What do you think of my suggestions?

.

Why is it "second" and "third one"? Can it be "the third" as well?

The second one is to delay reschedule our swimming (session) appointment to next week, when the construction is over.
The third one is that we just have a drink together instead of going swimming.

It's just for variation. Repeating the same structure makes the text monotonous/boring.
