Can a woman be King?

As far as I know, a woman can be Queen. However, in the famous short story "The Fisherman and his Wife", she desires to be King:

"Well," said the wife, "if you won't be king, I will. Go to the flounder, for I will be king."

A woman can't be Pope, either, but that doesn't stop the fisherman's wife wishing for it.

It's just a story, so don't think about it too literally. A female monarch is a queen, not a king.
