Hi,

Is there any difference between the words "cab" and "taxi"? Can they both be used in the following situations:

1) When we're talking about the service:

I regularly go by cab/in a cab from the airport to the central square when I arrive in London

cab/taxi drivers aleways expect you to tip them

2) When we're talking about a car itself:

Taxi/cab cars run regularly between the main railway station and all bus stations in the city

Best

They are completely interchangeable for me, but I call them cabs and taxis, not cab cars and taxi cars.

You can take a cab/taxi.
How much will a cab/taxi from here to the airport run me? (How much will it cost?)

As a speaker of BrE, I use only 'taxi'.
