both...and, as well as

Dear teachers,

"both ...and " can always be replaced by "as well as". Is that right?
For example,
Most of these resources, both technical and spiritual, are stored in books.
The sentence can be rewritten as:
Most of these resources, technical as well as spiritual, are stored in books.
Is that right?

There are many ways in English language to say the same. It's the beauty of almost every language.
Here is no exception, however the second sentence sounds a bit better to me. It's not that it is preferable - more of a subjective approach.
