Have I made any mistakes?

Bob is a man who people either despise or like. Some think that he is arrogant and full of himself, while others find him genuine and ready to stand up for others.

The American expression is:

People either love him or hate him.

(People often judge others by different standards than what they would want to be judged by.)

If you want to keep the original sentence, better drop the "who". It should be "whom", but an implicit "that" (left out) will do just as well:

Bob is a man people will either despise or like.

Tarheel's love-or-hate phrase is a very good one.

Bob is a man people either love or hate.
