[Grammar] Before I moved to New York I had been living in Italy.

Hi. Is the use of past perfect continuous correct in the following sentence and can you tell me if there are other alternatives?

Before I moved to New York I had been living in Italy.
 
I might use the past perfect continuous if I were going to follow it with a period of time.

Before I moved to New York, I had been living in Italy for six months.

As a straight statement, I'd stick with the simple past.

Before I moved to New York, I lived in Italy.
 
Here's a tip for an advanced learner: the word other in your question is redundant. :)
