Quote from Supernatural (serie)

Hello I will write now the line in the first episode:

Friend: How's it feel to be the golden boy of the family
Sam: They don't know
Friend: They don't know? I would be gloating, Why not?
Sam: Because we're not exactly the Bradys.

I don't understand the part with "the Bradys", can someone help me?

It's an allusion to an old sitcom on American TV, The Brady Bunch. (Numerous free episodes are available on Youtube.) I've never actually watched a single episode, but I believe the Bradys were intended to represent a typical middle class American family.

I don't understand " They don't know" there.

Please not that serie is not the singular of series. Instead, series is the singular of series.

I think Sam means that his family members do not think he is the golden boy of the family.
