Hello Everyone,:)

In US or Uk, is there a service site called beauty parlor. If yes, what service does it provide, hair cutting? Is it a common place there?

As it seems to that parlor is a negative terms, which has something to do with porn?

Regards

Sky:)

I agree that parlour (British spelling) has no negative connotations.

In the UK, 'salon' is more common than parlour when referring to places such as beauty salon/parlour, tanning salon/parlour.

A beauty salon/parlour will provide hairdressing, manicures, pedicures, hair removal, tanning etc. Yes, it is common and there are unisex salons/parlours, as well as salons/parlours specifically for males or females.

The word parlor has nothing to do with porn. A beauty parlor is a business that offers haircuts, permanents, manicures, and other services, mostly to women. There are also billiard parlors – where people can play billiards. In addition, there are beer parlors – where people can drink beer. Another meaning of the word is a certain room in a home, a room set aside for entertaining guests.

Can you specify its other services here? And what do you mean by saying permanents?:)

What services do tanning parlour provide? And what about beauty parlour?:)

A tanning parlour exists for people to get a tan. Either by using a sunbed, or using a spray-tan.

I mentioned some of the things a beauty parlour will consist of. I'll say again, and more: hairdressing, tanning, manicure, pedicure, facials, hair removal, massage, spa, Reiki.

Not all beauty parlours have all of these services. Some will have more services.

A permanent is a chemical conditioning of hair that forces the hair to stay in a certain position. Usually a woman (though I suppose a man could also) will ask to have her hair treated so it will stay curly. This treatment is called a permanent because the hair will stay that way for a long time - but certainly not forever; as the word permanent would imply. Maybe some of our female contributors could answer this question better but I think this defines the word well enough.

Thanks, in Chinese it means 烫发,or 做一下头发 or 拉一下头发!:up::up:
