Hello,

Can one write 'attain to' instead of attain? Is there a difference? Most civilizations attained to the glory of power before being destroyed. Or something like that.

Regards,
Mr. X

"To attain" means to get or to achieve, so it wouldn't take "to".

Most civilisations attained a position of power before being destroyed.
