What articles should be used there and why?

This looks like homework. Is it?

Did your teacher ask you to explain your choice?
 
Why don't you give us your choices and explain why you chose them? If it's not homework, we'll confirm or correct.
 
I have an assignment. Explain why I used the singular (choice), but Skrej used the plural (choices).
