[Vocabulary] AT the college refectory / IN the college canteen

At 14.40 I am normally AT the college refectory / IN the college canteen chatting with my friends, relaxing, eating.

Can the prepositions be interchanged (IN the college refectory / At the college canteen)? If yes, will there be any difference in meaning?:-?

I'm not sure why you changed "college refectory" to "college canteen" when you changed the preposition. The basic answer to your question in BrE is that we say "in the canteen" or "in the refectory" as we consider it to be a room, not a building.

We don't say "Thanks beforehand" and there is no reason for you to say "Thanks in advance" either. After someone has answered your question satisfactorily, then it is appropriate to say thank you by clicking the Like button.
