Would you please explain to me the difference in article use in the examples above?
 
That's far too many screenshots and questions for one thread. Please choose two or three of them, type them out yourself, and ask a question that makes it clear what you're finding unclear or confusing.
 
1) Blindfolded, Ms Smith is unable to ride at beginner level let alone compete.
