Hello,

Eric Schmidt of Google said “Our goal is to have more at bats per unit of time and money than anyone else.”.

I looked it up in the dictionary, "at bat" means an official turn at batting charged to a baseball player, I do not understand what it exactly means in the above sentence. Please help.

An "at bat" is an opportunity, a chance to get a "hit" in baseball. You may get a hit. You may get an out. You might hit a home run. But without any "at bats" you have no chance of succeeding.

Without any more context, I would understand that to mean he wants to have a lot of (business) opportunities.
