Hello,

Is the following sentence grammatically correct? I believe that the word “need” should take a S and the usage of “as such” is not appropriate here, since it conveys a negative connotation while I don’t get this negativity from the sentence. What do you think?

As such, digital technology need not to be viewed as competing with our internal cognitive process.

Say: "As such, digital technology should not be viewed as competing with our internal cognitive processes."

I can't say for certain if "as such" is appropriate because I don't know what came before.

1. ... digital technology need not to be viewed ...
1. ... digital technology does not need to be viewed ...

'Need' can function either as a modal (1) or a lexical verb( 2).

'as such' does not have a negative connotation.
