Have I made any mistakes?
Anna cancelled the wedding ceremony when she discovered that George was married and even had two children. She felt ashamed and embarrassed. How could I be so stupid, she wondered. She was thirty-five and was never married and was looking forward to a marriage with a good-looking guy with a top job. Anna always saw herself as a worldly woman, and it hurt her that she trusted George and that he could pull the wool over her eyes. She should have heeded the warning signs, like when she had called him sometimes, and he replied he was busy and was working overtime and couldn't come, when he was probably with his wife. She was blinded by love and refused to listen to the voice of reason.
As she sat on the bed, anger flared in her, and she tore off her earrings and flung them to the floor. She broke her pearl necklace and the pearls flew all over the room. The jewellery was George's present, but now it made her sick. She tried not to cry, but the pain was overwhelming, and she howled like a woman who had just lost her husband.
