"The Statue of Liberty changed colour after continued exposure to air/ the atmosphere."
Are the two bold phrases correct?
 
It doesn't work with "the atmosphere". That covers an area from the surface of the earth up to 10,000km above the earth! You might consider using "exposure to pollution".
 
I read that its copper exterior reacted with oxygen and turned into green so I guess it isn't due to the pollution. I'll choose the first one.
