I don't clearly understand. One native english speaker told me that the words like "array", "essay" etc. can be stressed both on the first and second syllable. It depends on where you live. My english teacher says that the stress is always on the first syllable. I need an explanation of a person who know english perfectly. I hope here someone can explain.

Dictionaries will tell you this.
Essay - noun
Essay - verb
Array - noun and verb.

"etc." isn't valid. Words are different.

PS: Does your teacher pronounce 'display' with the stress on the first syllable?

Some words are emphasized on different syllables in British and American English. A good dictionary will show both versions and identify which is which.

You mean to say "Array" with the stress on the first syllable is incorrect?

Do you mean to say "array" with the stress on the first syllable is incorrect?

Yes, that is correct. The stress is on the second syllable.

Yes, that is correct. The stress is on the second syllable.

An American friend of mine started learning programming about twenty-five years ago. I found it odd that he stressed the first syllable of array. It was a word he'd never used before, so he just guessed at the pronunciation.

Everyone else stresses the second syllable.

I have heard that from programmers too.
