Please, what's the correct abbreviation for 'example'?
'Ex.', 'Ex:' or 'e.g.'?
 
"e.g." would be the normal abbreviated way of saying "here is an example". Perhaps you can give us a couple of sentences showing how you want to use this.
 
The abbreviation e.g. is actually for the Latin phrase "exempli gratia" which means "for the sake of example." So basically it is "e.g." because it is based on the Latin phrase.
