Hi all,

I'm looking for a word describing someone who tends to always try new things and go for variety (and not necessarily take risks).

This person may never want to stick to the same style, go to the same restaurant and the like.

I don't think there is an exact word for that.
"Adventurous" is being game to try new things for thrill, not necessarily for variety.
Man of varied tastes?

@tedmc: I disagree.

Eckaslike's suggestion works for that context.

"Adventurous" can mean either, "a thrill seeker" or, "someone willing to try new things for variety".

If you follow the dictionary link I posted, you will find the following example given (the first meaning shown under B2):

"I'm trying to be more adventurous with my cooking".

Unless they are going to use something potentially dangerous, like a chef's blowtorch ( http://tinyurl.com/q2j84y5 ), I would always take this phrase to mean that they are either, going to try more difficult recipes, or try cooking dishes from other cuisines. Generally, the only risk involved might be to the diners, who end up eating those culinary experiments! :)
