I want to express the idea that a person has had a negative feeling for a long time. Are these correct and natural?

1. For too long, you let your fears and anxieties hold you hostage. It's time to break free my friend. You can do it if you so choose.

2. You've allowed your doubts get the better of you for all these years. For once, be decisive.

Saying "if you so choose" is fine, but it sounds formal. If you want to sound more conversational, use "want" or "try." You could also say, "if you set your mind to it."
