Dear teachersI wonder if you could kindly help me to figure out the grammatical justification for some parts of the below sentence. Managing an actor’s image though media relations become popular in 1980’s.How is it possible to use “though” there in the sentence? And why is the verb in present simple while the indicated time is 1980’s?

Managing an actor’s image through media relations became [STRIKE]become[/STRIKE] popular in the 1980’s.

The sentence you quoted had some errors. I've written some probable corrections above. With the corrections, your questions no longer apply.

Where did you find that sentence, faryan?

Thanks for your consideration and thanks for the response. The sentence was extracted from an advanced grammar book. I couldn't make my mind if they are simple editing errors or any advanced grammatical points!

They are editing errors, unforgivable in an advanced grammar book.

Gee! Then I will show up here a lot more! The book came in really handy but it seems to be in need of checks and re-checks! I do appreciate your kind help though!
