Hello,

Consider the given heading: What would have happened if....? This exercise is about third conditional.

1. Dinosaurs hadn't become extinct.

Using the third conditional I'd say: If dinosaurs hadn't become extinct, humankind wouldn't have evolved the way it did.

However, is it correct to say: If dinosaurs hadn't become extinct, we wouldn't be alive.

The first example is third conditional (past unreal situation), but how is the second one classified?

Yes. That's usually known as a 'mixed conditional' - as suggested in your thread title.
