What is the correct idiom for a situation where there is no alternative but you are compelled to follow a certain line of action, in other words no alternative.

Sadly, we Americans don't use the expression "Hobson's choice".

Those aren't other words. You already used them, so they're the same words.
There is no choice.

There is no way around it.

It can't be avoided.

It's unavoidable.

It's a given.

It's inevitable.
