[Grammar] object to (me/my) playing ~

Hi. Teachers !

I do not understand why mother should object to (me , my ) playing the piano at the party.

Q) Which one of the above "me" or "my" is correct grammatically ?


In my view, both seem to be correct. formally, of cource, "my" is right.

Descriptive grammar will tell you that people use "me" very frequently.

You have to decide if "because everyone else is doing it" makes something correct.

Cool! And I have just become aware of what prescriptive really means. Prescriptivists cock a snook at corpus linguistics and think of English as it were a mathematical equation. I am a hardcore Mickey Mouse quasi-prescriptivist, that is what I am. :up:
