It can't hit you "in" the face because "in" means that it would actually enter the cavity of the face. "on" is more appropriate b/c once it hits, it rolls away.

Jo

The ball was heading in the direction of the face so I believe it's 'in'.

Idon't know ,please send me th answer

Tom

I watch NBA and when they dunk on someone else they say "in your face".

cc4sure

What about "He hit me in/on the stomach."

Nick

Why are there so many answers for "on"? You hit someone in the face, in the guts, in the balls, etc. You don't hit someone on the face, on the guts, or on the balls???

Win

In British English, we use 'in'.
